The laser pistol returns as the entry level energy pistol in Fallout: New Vegas. The laser pistol is one of the weakest energy pistols, but is also the most common. Unlike the majority of the weapons in New Vegas, the laser pistol does not have a 'true iron sights' function. At some point in Fallout: New Vegas on the Xbox 360, you'll eventually find yourself in Hidden Valley, the secret location of the Brotherhood of Steel. After exploring their bunker, you may find yourself meeting with Knight Torres, the Quartermaster for the Brotherhood of Steel. She will tell you that she is missing a Laser Pistol from her last shipment and wants you to go look for it.

The Gatling Laser is a weapon that most players of Fallout New Vegas are aware of. It's an extremely powerful weapon with high base damage and a really fast rate of fire. Players don't want to be in the line of sight of an enemy with this laser weapon. Use Veronica as a human shield! Plasma can be fundamentally broken down to the concept of speed vs. Power with lasers providing significantly higher speed (DPS) but at smaller amount of damage per shot while plasma is the exact opposite with high damage per shot but slow bullet speed and lower DPS. While it is true that plasma bullets travel much slower than the instantaneous speed of a laser beam. The missing laser pistol is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas, and the object of the unmarked quest Pistol Packing, found in scorpion gulch.

Background
The following section is transcluded from laser pistol. To modify, please edit the source page.
The Wattz 1000 laser pistol is a mass produced civilian variant of the laser pistol, offering lower wattage than military or police versions.[1] Its design is one of the primary reasons for the reduced wattage, as rather than a crystal array, it uses a laser diode for focusing light.[2][3]
The weapons can be easily locked down for transport and storage, preventing unauthorized users from operating the weapon. The proper arming sequence needs to be transmitted to enable the weapon to function.[4]

Characteristics
Entry-level energy weapon, the laser pistol is a very basic weapon that's outclassed by most conventional guns. Targeted hits to vulnerable elements of the target body can be deadly, but then again, so is a .223 round from a sniper rifle.

The AEP7 features a new design in the photonic focusing chamber as well as an entirely redesigned focusing crystal pattern. The bulk and weight have both been reduced over previous models and it was likely that within the new few development cycles, the successor to the AEP7 would replace the n99 10mm as the standard issue sidearm for all forces.
The AEP7 took advantage of new manufacturing techniques developed shortly before the Great War. Although many were produced, most did not make it into field service because of logistics problems concerning their deployment during active wartime.
The AEP7 can be a rare find in the Capital Wasteland, and any models that are produced should be returned to the Citadel for repair and recalibrating before field deployment.' - ↑Help guard a secret transaction taking place in the desert.
